Art is my path, it's the language of my spirit with which I communicate. It's for me the greatest tool for healing, transformation and the creation of reality.“

Art Bio
My newest work involves the unilateral connection to that which one may term the “Zen Mind.” This is a place of letting go of all attachments to the outcome of any piece of work. Hands to heart, focusing only on the moment, I make no plan, I enter the silence, I let go. Paint is then applied to the canvas using brushes, fingers, textured surfaces and anything that comes to mind during the process. Layer by layer, images begin to appear before me. Sometimes I enhance them, sometimes not. This freedom of expression and exploration is bringing forth images which, I believe, possess the essential elements of personal healing and transformation. In the past, I knew that I could “paint what I see.” I now believe that it is more important to “see what I paint.”

In my wearable art I employ a technique called Shibori which is a term that describes a variety of Japanese techniques used to embellish textiles, creating areas of resist before dyeing. I employ silk, velvet, cotton, rayon and linen fabrics in my creations. I became interested in the shibori process after learning more contemporary tie-dye techniques.

I picked up a book one day and saw a picture and brief description of this process. I then began my own journey of experimentation. This is not unlike my painting process in that I come from a very Buddhist approach of non-attachment to the outcome of any piece of work. Through the layers of color, magic happens. Predictability comes with experience, but I'm always rewarded with subtle surprises.

Music Bio
I began my singing career at the age of three, entertaining the passengers on a transcontinental train with a medley of Elvis Presley tunes and Christmas carols. Surviving this debut, I sang in many choirs, started my first band at age 12, took up the acoustic guitar (at 16), and have been playing and writing my own songs ever since.

My compositions are a unique blend of folk, rock, country and blues, all interlaced with a sense of ancient and modern cultural mystery. I write about politics and love, the environment and the spirit. I try to lend my voice to the voiceless critters and unheard humans of our planet, telling their stories, supporting their causes. My CD entitled “Dream the Life that Dances Me” is nearly complete and will be released sometime in July, 2008.

Everything I create comes directly from the Heart, infused with my passion for life’s magical and uplifting journey.
