Art is my path, it's the language of my spirit with which I communicate. It's for me the greatest tool for healing, transformation and the creation of reality.“

growing eARTh
FOOD+COMMUNITY= FUN
In the summer of 2008 a new flower at WomanKraft was sprouted. “growing eARTh” is a new adventure series that explores sustainable lifestyles for the urban environment of the desert southwest.

How does your garden grow? A garden information exchange.
Do you have a garden?  What grows well in it?  What does not?  Curious about how others are gardening?  Come to this monthly circle and help water the sprouts of a community support system for gardeners. The first month will be a potluck in Donette’s garden (call for directions 272-6969). The next month could possibly be in your garden!  Time: 5-7pm  Fridays October 10, November 7 and December 12

Sitting Silently with Seeds
Everything in our lives was once a seed that chose to sprout. Come sit for an hour of silence. Give yourself an opportunity to contemplate what seeds you have been cultivating in your life.  You don’t have to be a pro at meditation, but rather, we invite you to practice quietness using this simple, yet profound focus.   Facilitator: Donette
Time:  Saturdays, beginning October 18   9-10am.

Growing Sprouts 101
What better way to take control of our lives than growing our own nourishment? Sprouts are a very simple and inexpensive way to add vitality to our lives.  This first session will teach us how to sprout various seeds using a jar.  We will also discuss creative ideas of what to do with the darn things once they are ready to eat!      Facilitator:  Donette
Time: 10:30 – 12:30 Saturday, October 18

Eating Healthier with Vegetable Smoothies
Sound disgusting?  Believe it or not, veggie smoothies can be very delicious and invigorating.  Come and learn how easy it is and take the opportunity to start your day off with this form of delicious energy.  Bring an interesting vegetable to add to the mix.   Facilitator: Donette      Time: 10:30-12:30  Saturday, October 25

"Spice It Up"  Part 1
Explore ways to use herbs (and spices) to enhance your culinary experience. We all know we're supposed to cut back on salt, butter, creamy sauces, but how are we going to make things taste good? Herbs and spices can enhance the flavors of your food to where minimal use of salt or other not so healthy ingredients is possible and you may find things are even tastier! Directions (and recipes) for making and using herb-infused oils, herb vinegars, compound butters and herbal seasoning blends will be shared. There may be a few other herbal surprises, too! Come check it out and go home with some new ideas to try for yourselves.  Facilitator: Kim    Time:  10:30-12:30 Saturday, November 1

Basic Sunflower Sprouting
Be a mini-gardener in two weeks with sunflower sprouts.  Did you know that the common black-seeded variety sunflower can be grown in a small 18X18” flat of earth 2” deep on a shady porch or window sill?  The crunchy crisp texture of this underutilized vegetable can also be prepared as the basis for many soup broths.  All of the basics involved in producing a nutritious contribution to the urban diet will be covered.     Facilitator: Jacob
Time:  10:30-12:30 Saturday, November 8

Dancing with Seeds
Explore the world of seeds thru impressionistic movement.  Each participant can identify with a seed and improvise the timeline of sprouting, fruition and senescence.  Pictures of seeds will be randomly chosen for the additional element of divination.  Facilitator: TBA     Time:  10:30-12:30 Saturday, November 15

"Spice It Up"  Part 2
Continue the exploration of ways to use herbs (and spices) to enhance your culinary experience! Come check it out and go home with some new ideas to try for yourselves.   Facilitator: Kim      Time:  10:30-12:30 Saturday, December 6

Worm Culture
This session will demonstrate the basics of earthworm soil creation from kitchen scraps and newspaper. Did you know that Earthworm castings are soil conditioners that improve soil fertility especially favored by fast growing vegetables and container grown plants? Learn how worm culture is a valuable contribution to providing a sustainable urban lifestyle and how you can help them grow.    Facilitator: Jacob
Time:  10:30-12:30 Saturday, December 13

All sessions are offered by Spirit Guided Donation.
All offerings, unless otherwise noted, take place in or outside studio #102, under the trees at WomanKraft
